About Alice Coltrane

Following her ascension as bandleader of her late husband's famed ensemble, Alice Coltrane made her mark on the jazz world as one of the few players to use the harp as a tool for improvisation. In addition to being an accomplished organ player and pianist, Coltrane has also integrated Eastern philosophy and instrumentation into her work in order to create a meditative drone reflective of her deep-seated spirituality. Coltrane released TRANSLINEAR LIGHT in 2004, her first album following a 25-year hiatus.
