Austin, TX rockers And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead transcended their unwieldy moniker to become a leading light of the heavy-rock scene. Difficult to pin down, their no-holds-barred sound bears traces of punk, metal, emo, prog-rock, and Sonic Youth-style avant-noise. They started out as full-fledged indie rockers with their 1998 debut album, but they had graduated to a major label by the time of their breakthrough third album SOURCE TAGS & CODES, which significantly expanded both their approach and their audience.
