After ten years, Blind Melon is reuniting and "restarting" their adventure as a band with a new lead singer, Travis Warren. Their fans are happy to see the band back and singing again, releasing new songs, albums, and videos. After the tragic, early death of Shannon Hoon from a cocaine overdose in 1995, the remaining members of the original Blind Melon was struck with grief. Shannon Hoon represented a lot of energy behind the success of Blind Melon and his death was a huge loss. In 1996, the group released their last album with Shannon Hoon, from music that had not yet been released. They named the album, Nico, for Shannon's daughter, Nico, who was only 13 weeks old at the time of his death. Nico, when released, was accompanied with never-before-released photos, interviews, footage of concerts, a home video, and footage from some early years when the group was playing clubs, as well as some behind-the-scenes moments. In September 2006, Travis Warren joined original members Rogers Stevens, Brad Smith, Christopher Thorn, and Glen Graham, to try to craft out a new future for the group. They have recorded a new song, "Sometimes," have made a new video that is posted on their website, and have mentioned two new albums. The "new" Blind Melon recorded new music in Los Angeles in July 2007. Blind Melon's first performance will be in Providence, Rhode Island, on October 7, 2007. They are already planning events for two or three weeks in November 2007 as well. There hasn't been a specific date set yet for the release of their new albums, but two songs that will likely be on an album are, "For My Friends" and "Wishing Well." Plans are also being formed for a tour soon.
