About Bliss

The story of Bliss begins with the tale of young backpacker touring Europe sometime after the millennium. One night, after a long dusty bus ride, he climbed into bed and was stung by a scorpion. Hovering between life and death in a foreign country, he was unsure of his fate. But slowly, he recovered and then returned - to life and to home. Based on this extraordinary story, Bliss created the journey of Afterlife, their highly acclaimed debut concept album. Afterlife set new standards for chill out pop music when it was released in 2001 and became a European bestseller. Bliss, the international music collective from Denmark, Sweden and Guinea-Bissau, west Africa consists of producers Steffen Aaskoven, Marc-George Andersen, vocalists Tchando, Alexandra Hamnede, and features guest vocals by Sophie Barker from Zero 7. Rooted in a fine collage of western, African, and classical musical influences representing the vast musical backgrounds of the band, Bliss has inspired comparisons to Sade, Norah Jones and Ennio Morricone.
