About Bun-B

Bun B, a rapper, is one of the artists that formed the UGK (Underground Kings). The other artist is a rapper named Pimp C. Together they changed the hip-hop music sounds in and around Houston, Texas. Bun B, whose name was given to him by relatives and is short for "Bun Beater" because he has always the talent to make "beats." Bun B has always had rhythm. Bun B (who was born Bernard Freeman in Port Arthur, Texas) released a solo album in 2005 entitled, Trill. Trill was a Top Ten hit. Bun B also released a mixtape entitled, Legends, in 2005. The year 2005 saw Houston, Texas as a great time for hip-hop music and Bun B took advantage of that. UGK was begun in the 1980s after their former band, Four Black Ministers, separated. Bun B has worked with various notable artists and he has also worked with unknown artists as well. Bun B is a member of Rap-A-Lot Records, which is an underground record label for hip-hop music. Bun B always has little projects on the side, so there is always something musical going on in his life. Some of Bun B's more notable adventures have occurred with Slim Thug and T.I. ("3 Kings"); Paul Wall and Mike Jones ("They Don't Know"); Webbie ("Gimme That"); and the Ying Yang Twins ("23-Hr. Lockdown"). The song, "23-Hr. Lockdown," was dedicated to Pimp C who became incarcerated for a time and Bun B had to carry on without his presence. Bun B is friends and has connections with some very well-respected Southern rappers. He was in a Pepsi and Yahoo! Ad, "Houston Mic Pass," which included Lil' Flip, Chamillionaire, Chingo Bling, Short Dawg, Trae, Mike-D, Magno, and H.A.W.K. A new album, Trill 2, is expected out in 2008.
