English pop-rock band Busted are the hugest thing that never happened to America. In fact, they made a hit MTV show about it. Of course, the show only aired on MTV UK. So what have we been missing over here? Well, if you've got a sweet tooth for boisterous, unapologetic sugar-pop, Busted are the boys who are gonna give you a cavity. There three part harmonies are pleasantly nasal while their girl-centric lyrics keep things light and clever. Guitars jangle, synths swoop and the whole thing is a big, frothy pop explosion. They first broke big in 2002 with their self-titled disc Busted. The trio-Sam Ruback, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis-all play their own instruments and share co-writing credit, which was a refreshing change from the manufactured vocal pop prevalent on UK radio. The single "That's What I Go To School For" was unavoidable on UK radio and the trio followed it up with the equally catchy "Year 3000." Their 2003 follow-up, A Present For Everyone, lived up to its name and is widely regarded as the group's classic. Infectious singles included "Sleeping With the Light On" and "Who's David?" Busted even made it into the Guinness Book of Records by selling out the massive Wembley Arena in London for six nights in a row. The band split in 2005, saying that they were diverging creatively and also outgrowing Busted's clean-cut image. All three Busted boys have gone on to popular solo careers-Ruback was dubbed sexiest man alive by Cosmo UK while Charlie Simpson is recording and touring with his rougher rock act Fightstar.
