New Zealand singer/songwriter Neil Finn started out playing in his older brother Tim's band, Split Enz, in the early 1970s. When that group splintered, Neil and Enz drummer Paul Hester founded Crowded House, whose sophisticated but highly accessible pop-rock made them a bigger success in the US than Split Enz had ever been. For the group's third album, Tim made the circle complete by joining the fold. Though he departed soon after, the brothers would work together again even after Crowded House's lifespan ended in the mid-'90s.
