DJ Clue? (born Ernesto Shaw in 1975 in Queens, New York) is a "Mixtape DJ," meaning that he owns sole copyright to his music on CDs. He was the first DJ to record his mixtapes on CDs, which occurred in 1998, and because of his influence, this method of mixing music became popular. He also usually dubs his name and the song information over each tape in an echoed voice, that way it arrives at the listener's ear sometime after it was actually spoken. DJ Clue?'s mixtape and re-mix efforts began when he was a DJ spinning the turntable. He wanted to get the audience's attention with some new beats, some never-before-heard, or experienced rhythms and "freestyles." Some call the mixtape a phenomenon because the DJ takes different songs and blends them into something new and different. Clue has always had a distinct way of producing the mixtapes. He has won "Best Mix Tape" awards from the music industry for his efforts and achievements. DJ Clue's production line-up includes "I Need A Soldier," with 50 Cent, by Keyshia Cole in 2007. Also included are "The Gold," by Mobb Deep in 2006 and "One Wish" (a remix) with Fabolous - Ray J in 2006. In 2003, it was "Hurry Up," featuring Gunz. DJ Clue's albums include: The Professional, Platinum: DJ Clue/Presents: Backstage: A Hard Knock Life, which was a soundtrack and went Gold; The Professional, Pt. 2, which also went Gold; and, The Professional, Pt. 3. Puff Daddy spoke highly of Clue's The Professional. Clue's remixes include the 2006, "Fidel Cash Flow 2006", in Audio CD format and "Clue? Vinci Code - Part 1."
