David Hasselhoff is an American actor and musician, nicknamed "The Hoff" by fans. He was born on July 17, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. Besides being a mega star, he is also a musician with gold and platinum albums to his credit. At the age of eight the young boy first discovered his zeal for acting when he performed in the play "Rumpelstilsen." When the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia David Hasselhoff began taking his singing, acting and dancing lessons. Soon they moved to LaGrange, Illinois where David participated in a number of high school plays. After graduation, he enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, and the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pontiac, Michigan. His early acting career spans from 1975-82, with his major role as Dr. William 'Snapper' Foster, Jr in the television serial "The Young and the Restless." But his best career break was his starring in the television series "Knight Rider" as Michael Rider and, subsequently, in "Baywatch" as Mitch Buchannon. With his roles in "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch" he found a unique position in the Guinness Book of World Records as the TV star who is most watched. When the Knight Rider series was cancelled, he decided to return to his music and signed a profitable recording contract with CBS Epic Records. In a few weeks, his first record sold over seventeen concerts to more than 150 thousand fans. Soon after, his next album 'Looking for Freedom' was released and hit gold in Europe, climbing to the top of the charts. Thereafter he released a good number of albums and singles that earned several gold and platinum certifications. "David Hasselhoff Sings America," from his latest album is a popular song in America at present. He did a music video ? "Jump in My Car" that playfully references his role in "Knight Rider." In 2006, he presented a musical "David Hasselhoff," based on his life. David was married to Catherine Hickland and got divorced after four years (1984-1988). He then married Pamela Bach in 1989 and has two daughters. They also got divorced in 2006 after 16 years. David was also accused of alcoholic abuse. "Making Waves" his autobiography, was released in September 2006.
