About Guru
Guru is a Hip Hop legend and the founding member of the classic group GangStarr of the Golden Era of the 90's. Guru was also the first Hip Hop artists to actually blend Hip Hop with Live Jazz beginning in 1993 with his classic Hip Hop Jazz series called Jazzmatazz of which he has released 4 acclaimed volumes and has collaborated with everyone from Jazz greats such as Donald Byrd, Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayers, David Sanborn, Ramsey Lewis, Bob James etc. to world renown soul vocalists such as Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Caron Wheeler, Raheem DeVaugn, etc. to well known Hip Hop and Reggae artists such as Common, Slum Village, Damian Marley, Junior Reid and more. Guru has recently partnered up with one of today's hottest new producers, Solar and together they continue to release classic Hip Hop and HipHop/Jazz material on their new label 7 Grand Records. Thus, the living legend continues to release timeless, classic material for today's music lovers of all generations.
