About Hilary Duff

It seems like teen-queen Hilary Duff has it all. The sexy young songstress has managed to make tabloid headlines as an unstoppable party girl while still keeping up a wholesome, Disney-channel worthy image. If actors want to be rockers and rockers want to be actors, Hilary Duff has had the best of both worlds; first playing a rock star in a movie and then translating that image into actual pop chart success. Even if you take into consideration fictional TV chart-toppers like The Monkees or 2Gether, you still need to consider Hilary Duff's crossover from Disney Channel icon to viable pop starlet to be a noteworthy achievement. Hilary Duff initially came to the attention of tweens everywhere with her star roll in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which saw the young Duff involved in a case of mistaken identity with a famous fictitious teen-pop star. That movie, coupled with A Cinderella Story, made Duff a household name in families with one or more Mickey-obsessed kids. But for music fans not tapped into the teen scene, her debut real-world album (and ensuing celebrity status) came as a bit of a shock. Hilary Duff's first solo disc was 2003's Metamorphosis, which was deliberately timed to capitalize on the actresses Lizzie McGuire success. Unlike other blond adolescent pop stars, Hilary Duff intentionally kept her debut G-rated, resulting in a disc of super-sweet, friendly dance tracks that even the most dour music fan would be hard-pressed not to smile along too. Duff's voice is accomplished without overdoing things, and up-beat album singles like "So Yesterday", "Little Voice", and "Come Clean" showed that Hilary's talent and charisma weren't just the result of Hollywood super-production. Hilary Duff also got in touch with ace production team The Matrix, famous for steering Avril Lavine to stardom, for several tracks on her debut record. Hilary Duff's most recent disc, 2007's Dignity, saw Duff maintaining her above-it-all scenester savvy while still casting disses towards fellow starlets known for behaving badly in tabloids, all over beats courtesy of studio genius will.i.am.
