Jeannie (Jeannette) Ortega was born on November 19, 1986 in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York and is an American recording artist. She is a singer, actress, dancer, and songwriter. Her parents are Puerto Rican and Jeannie was one of the first graduates from Brooklyn's High School of The Arts. During her school years she performed many times locally and in school and was a member of a singing group called 'Sugar and Spice.' She is said to have had a tough, depressing childhood.nnJeannie's first recording was when she was 16, on the soundtrack of a movie called "Love Don't Cost a Thing." A major deal with Hollywood Records saw her debut album "No Place Like Brooklyn" that was released on August 1st 2006. Jeannie Ortega had to work hard along with the producers for the promotion of the album and for this purpose she attended radio interviews, live mall shows, and more. The album also featured the American rapper Papoose in the hip hop influenced song called Crowded. On August 10, 2006 the album entered the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart at No.1.nnJeannie has starred in the teen romantic drama movie called "Step Up" that also stars Mario and Channing Tatum. Meanwhile her second album is also getting ready for release. Versions of some songs are believed to have leaked onto the Internet months before the retail album is expected to hit the stores. nnJeannie Ortega's next single remix of the song "So Done" is up for a second official release. Another remix of the song was produced by the protAcgAc producer Danja and was released in late 2006. nnThe most attractive part of Jeannie's songs is the hip-hop, reggae, and Latin influences.
