With their glossy magazine good looks and sweet pop hooks, the three-piece rock act The Jonas Brothers have a long, bright future ahead of them. The brothers-Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas-have been writing songs together for as long as any of them can remember, which explains the band's tight harmonies and seemingly effortless songwriting. The brothers specialize in up-beat, emotional pop-punk and the kind of timeless ballads that have won the brothers a place in the hearts of teenage girls across the country. The Jonas Brothers are also advocates of Christian values, including teen sobriety and abstinence, which casts them in sharp contrast to other teen pop acts who frequently make headlines with their bad behavior and underage antics. The Jonas Brothers are by and large the result of older brother Nick Jonas' rock star dreams. As the story goes, Nick was discovered singing in a New Jersey barbershop at age six. Taking advantage of Jersey's proximity to Broadway, the golden voiced Nick Jonas went on to audition for, and land rolls in, a long list of hit Broadway shows including Beauty and the Beast, The Sound of Music, A Christmas Carol, Annie Get Your Gun and Les Miserables. It was while playing the role of Chip in Beauty and the Beast that Nick Jonas convinced the cast to perform his original composition, "Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)" on the 2002 edition of Broadway's annual "Equity Fights AIDS" Christmas charity disc. On the strength of his songwriting, Nick inked a deal with Columbia Records and recorded an album of Christian-skewed pop, including the single "Dear God," but the album did not receive a wide release. In 2005, Nick joined up with his equally musically talented brothers Kevin and Joe to form the Jonas Brothers band. The pop-rockers opened for mega-acts like The Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson and Click Five and the band received play on both MTV and Disney Music Television. In 2007, signing with Disney's Hollywood Records brought the Jonas Brothers their biggest success to date. The Jonas Brothers' self-titled album Jonas Brothers has seen their rocking singles "Kids Of the Future" and "SOS" perform well on the Billboard charts, and a legion of screaming teenyboppers has formed around the photogenic trio.
