K-Ci and JoJo are North Carolina brothers who, after performing with a popular R&B group called Jodeci with two other musicians, set out as a duet to conquer the music industry their own way. Releasing their first record in 1997, entitled Love Always, the duo went on to record another five albums: It's Real (1999), X (2000), Emotional (2002), All My Life: Their Greatest Hits (2005) and 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of K-Ci & JoJo (2007). The first release peaked at no. 6 on the American Billboard charts, and although the follow up did very well at no. 8, ratings have steadily dropped with the last four records, something that has probably not been helped by the fact that the last two were remastered compilations. K-Ci and JoJo have mastered the R&B genre, bringing a mellow and bluesy vibe to their songs that are often adulterated by cross-over artists who are more heavily influenced by rap or hip hop. Following their work in the group Jodeci, K-Ci and JoJo have altered their style in that they deliver a sound that is more laid back and sentimental than in their previous incarnation as musicians. The albums are all quite mature in relation to earlier songs, and the 1998 hit "All My Life" was about fatherhood. The two artists have discovered how to mesh their ideas into one coherent and enjoyable R&B flavor enjoyed by an enormous number of fans throughout the United States and the rest of the world. Following a strong start to their career together, K-Ci and JoJo are hopefully working some new tracks that will drum up further interest in their future albums and bring them back on top of the charts, like when they began recording together.
