LeToya (LeToya Nicole Luckett) is probably best known for her work with the supergroup Destiny's Child. As the founding member of the group, she had a lot of initial influence over the girls involved and the music that they wrote and produced. After winning two Grammy Awards with Destiny's Child for their R&B music, she left and started a career on her own as a solo R&B singer; her debut record LeToya came out in 2006, topped the US Billboard charts and proceeded to go Platinum. nnLeToya is known for her soulful singing, R&B vibe but also for her incorporation of hip hop genres into her music. When her very first solo single debuted ("Torn") it was against the wishes of her production team who favored a different track; LeToya seemed to have made the right choice, however, since fans went crazy for the ballad. Subsequent releases from the record proved popular as well, prompting the huge success in terms of record sales. LeToya was able to prove herself as a solo artist with this record and also show that she was perfectly capable of her own songwriting and recording without having her music sound like she had just stepped off the stage of a Destiny's Child concert. Her songs were fresh, hipper and had an edgier feel to them.nnCurrently the artist is working on her second solo album, entitled Lady Love, which is due to come out sometime in 2008. It is expected by many in the industry that sales will not match her debut, however the record has been long awaited by her fans; both those from her Destiny's Child days and those whom she has pulled in because of her solo style.
