About Melina

Melina is a singer-songwriter-producer-actress-vo who lives in New York City. She was born in Canada, to a Canadian mother and German-Norwegian father. Grew up some of her life in Germany, then moved to the New York area when she was 15. She studied Music-Acting and Communications at Berklee College of Music and UCONN (Univ. of Connecticut). Currently writing and producing her own tracks and performing at various venues around New York City. Sometimes solo, sometimes with her band. She also acts in commercials for a living and sings and does voices for various ads and movies. Her influences are very diverse.. her mom, being a quite soulful Canadian mix of Portuguese, Native American, Scottish and English gave her a look into gospel, soul and country folk. and even blues ... her dad, being German-Norwegian showed her Jazz, Classical and traditional German Lieder and songs. Melina has taken her influences and melted them together... whilst learning Janis Joplin and the more rocky side of music when she moved to the US at 15 years old, she always kept her love for blues, soul and dance music alive, thus making her music sound like a combination of dance, pop and soul with a rocky edge, which her vocals give away (the Janis edge)! Since she started producing her own tracks, she's been experimenting with electro sounds and house music ...putting beats and electro sounds under her songs... yet, most of her songs can be played in just about any genre!
