The country-rock duo Montgomery Gentry are from the South, they love the South and they wanna tell you all about it. Their unique fusion of hot southern rock licks and more traditional country romps has earned them a devoted audiences of older fans as well as new country converts. The band is made up of Eddie Montgomery aka the one with the signature black Stetson and Troy Gentry. Fans often assume the band-mates are brothers but that is incorrect. Montgomery Gentry's debut album was 1999's Tattoos & Scars, and it gave fans just the right amount of stomping riffs, rowdy lyrics and up-tempo Southern pride. Starting with Eddie's bright red leather boots on the disc's cover, you know you're in for a wild ride. They had a swaggering jukebox hit with the classic single "Hillbilly Shoes" and the humorous, whisky-soaked reprimand "Didn't Your Mama Tell Ya." But the boys weren't all outlaw, and they let fans peak at their sensitive side on ballads like "Trying to Survive" and "If A Broken Heart Could Kill." "Self Made Man" was a surprising confessional and hinted at the filled-out dimension the Montgomery Gentry would later achieve. On 2006's album Some People Change you can still see the rebellious side of the band, but the track fans are talking about is the tear-jerker "Clouds." With a greatest hits disc also in stores, Montgomery Gentry have proven that the old saying "a little bit country, a little bit rock n' roll" is still the magic combo.
