The young R&B crooner Omarion is perhaps best known for his time as part of the platinum selling boy band B2K. In the early 2000's, B2K took a tip from popular white boy bands like Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. The group was made up of four tuneful teenagers singing smooth hip hop soul jams. They had a #1 hit with the singles "Bump Bump Bump" and respectable success with "Gots Ta Be" and "Girlfriend." In 2004, B2K officially split. But now Omarion has returned to the game, and his debut, the starkly titled O, shows that the photogenic singer is back none too soon. Omarion's solo debut sees a more mature side of the singer, and the coy, high school come on's from his B2K days are replaced by racier club tracks. The grown up Omarion has figured out a few facts of life, which he shows on the tense "Slow Dance" and the profanity-laced "Take It Off." He also acknowledges his history with "Growing Up," which sees him humorously explaining B2K's breakup. Many fans consider the disc's standout track to be "Never Gonna Let You Go (She's A Keepa,)" a brutally funky jam that features guest rhymes from Outkast's Big Boi. On his aptly named second album, 2006's 21, Omarion fully embraces his adulthood. With his smooth voice, he seems to be heading in a funky soul direction, and tracks like "Just That Sexy" and "Have You Ever Been With A Star" show that Omarion is a serious threat in the clubs and the bedroom.
