Miami is a city infamous for hot days and hotter nights-something about the warm breeze in the palm trees and the neon lights on the surf just sets the mood for crazy times. Local hip hop sons Pretty Ricky channel that smoking vibe on bass-heavy party cuts sure to put the Florida nightlife capital on the rap scene map. The boys-four brothers Slick'em, Baby Blue, Spectacular Blue and Pleasure P-discovered that a gift for rhyme runs in the family and in 2005 they cut their debut album, Bluestars. The disc sees the talented brothers trading blazing rhymes over Miami's trademark grinding bass, slick club beats and massive samples. Their first single "Grind With Me" was a top-10 hit and received club play across the country. Their follow-up, the steamy "Your Body," also made its mark on the radio. Meanwhile, back home, Pretty Ricky concert appearances inspire the kind of mass pandemonium previously reserved for fellow Floridians The Backstreet Boys and riots requiring extra police reinforcement were not uncommon as Pretty Ricky were making their name. The third single off Bluestars, "Ain't Nothing But A Number," was a third smash. Pretty Ricky have since vowed to their devoted fans never to load their albums up with studio filler. As a further show of love to their supporters Pretty Ricky opened up an internet contest to choose the title of their follow-up album. Out of thousands of submissions, Pretty Ricky chose Late Night Special and the winning fan received a phone call from the band and credits in the upcoming album's liner notes.
