Hooker’s dramatic style takes the listener away from the material world. By the end of the Boom Boom, Hooker’s 67th or 68th album, you may actually believe that your girl’s walked out on you and alcohol has moved and settled itself in right next to the guitar and amp. B.B. King, one of Jimi Hendrix’s, main influences, is widely considered one of the best and most respected blues musicians in the world. He is the best living guitarist according to Rolling Stone magazine. King regards My Kind of Blues from 1960 his best work. The style itself is based on a 12-bar, bent-note melody is the anthem of a race, bonding itself together with cries of shared self-victimizing pity. Bad luck and trouble are always present in the Blues, and always the result of others, pressing upon unfortunate and downtrodden poor souls, yearning to be free from life's' troubles. Relentless rhythms repeat the chants of sorrow and the pity of a lost soul many times over. This is the Blues.
