About Relient K

Relient K is the name of a band formed in 1998 at Canton in Ohio and the members comprise Matt Thiessen (guitar), Matt Hoopes (guitar), Dave Dougles (drums), John Warne (bass) and John Schneck (banjo and bells). Besides they all are supporting vocalists. Matt Hoopes had a Plymouth Reliant K-car from which the band got the name. "All Work and No Play" was a demo album done by them in 1998. This demo album impressed Toby McKeehan, who is a member of the band dc'Talk. He entered into a tie up with Relient K and released "2000 A.D.D" EP in 2000. In 2001, they released their second album called "The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek." In 2003 they released an album called "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right?but Three Do." This was graded a gold edition by the RIAA since more than 500,000 copies were sold in the US itself. A gold edition of this and "The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek" was released on October 31, 2006. For Christmas, they brought out a bonus disc, entitled "Deck the Hall, Bruise Your Hand." The group released their fourth album named "Mmhmm," in 2004 and this received the Dove Award for the "Rock Album of the Year" in 2006. In 2005 it was certified gold for selling 500,000 copies. In Norway it was recognized as the best new band for the year 2004. In 2006, the band performed on the Nintendo Fusion Tour. In March 2006, the band released an album "Five Score and Seven Years ago." They also made Christmas albums. "The Complex Infrastucture Known as the Female Mind" is a book that this group released. They prepared nine audio podcasts and five video podcasts.The band will release a Christmas album in October 2007.
