Whitesnake Remember the 80's? We do. Bands with big hair, makeup and loud guitars dominated the decade. Over-the-top concerts and extravagant videos were also part of the magic. This was the era that urged kids to “rock out” and had them hold their lighters in the air while the power ballad played. Bands like The Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake and Motley Crue were among the first to emerge on the scene. Groups like Poison, Cinderella, Warrant, L.A. Guns, and Skid Row soon followed. Many of these artists were discovered playing Los Angeles’ famed Sunset Strip, an area that hosted rock clubs like Gazzari’s, The Whisky, The Roxy, and The House Of Blues. “Headbanger’s Ball”, a popular MTV show was also instrumental in showcasing a number of these groups. As the years of the decade progressed, the 80’s grew bigger and bigger. The rock scene became so popular, it spawned the sub genres of Arena Rock, Speed Metal, Progressive and Melodic Rock. The bubble finally burst in 1991. Seattle bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains replaced teased hair, lip stick and flashy playing with a new look and sound called “Grunge”. The days of operatic singers and squealing guitar solos were over. Flannel shirts, shorts, long natural hair, and a more organic sound shaped this new medium. Bands that once packed arenas full of fans, suddenly found themselves outdated. But today, the songs from that golden age are classics and their ringtones have now been preserved in our new sub genre “Hair Bands”. Come and rock out with us …and turn the volume up. Indulge yourselves with ringtones of the songs you love to hate, from rock’s most decadent era.
