New Orleans rapper Silkk The Shocker helped build Master P's No Limit empire in the 1990s with gritty. Southern-fried gangster rap. When his 1996 debut, The Shocker, going platinum it was a shot across the bow of the hip-hop industry that heralded the rise of the dirty South. His biggest hit came with "It Ain't my Fault" from his follow up release, Charge It To The Game. Since then Silkk has dropped more records and collaborated with everyone from Mystikal and Master P to Destiny's Child and Maya, scoring a hit with Maya in 1999 with "Somebody like Me".
