About T-Pain

Florida is hot, but the Tallahassee-based rapper and singer T-Pain might be even hotter. T-Pain has made a name for himself, both as a guest artist and as a solo star based largely on his unique production style, which features rolling, robo-voiced choruses and big Florida bass. Add T-Pain's own silky smooth singing voice to the mix and you have some unstoppable pop for a hot Florida night. Born to Muslim parents in Tallahassee, Faheem Najm aka T-Pain has been passionate about his music since the early age of ten. His parents were encouraging, and he soon had a rudimentary home studio installed in his bedroom. Before going solo, T-Pain also made a name for himself with the local hip hop combo Nappy Headz. Though the group never made it big internationally, they stirred up enough local buzz for the dreadlocked singer to strike off on his own. He got his big break when his smooth n' dirty remix of fellow hard R&B man Akon's track "Locked Up," titled "F*cked Up," caught the hot Senegalese singer's attention. Akon made T-Pain one of the premier artists on his new Konvict Music, and life has been good ever since. T-Pain's debut disc of groove-heavy club bangers and slow jams was 2005's Rappa Ternt Sanga. The well connected Akon called in verses from celebrity guests Trick Daddy, YoungBloodZ, Styles P and Mike Jones. The smash single "I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper)" guaranteed T-Pain a spot on gentleman's club juke boxes forever, and the single "I'm Sprung" was the jam of the summer. The follow-up to Rappa Ternt Sanga, titled Epiphany, lives up to it's name, dishing up track after track of hook-happy "hard n' B." This time, in addition to his main man Akon, T-Pain has called in Cham, Yung Joc, Shwanna and Jay Lyriq and singles like "Bartender" and "Buy U A Drank" sound great in a club, whether you like to sit and watch the scene or get out on the floor.
