Few musicians have done as much to put their hometown on the map as the young rapper T.I. After all, it takes either a lot of talent or a lot of guts to call yourself "The King of the South" and, fortunately for him, T.I. has talent and guts to spare. Today, T.I.'s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia is considered to be one of the hottest places in the hip hop game. And, while T.I. certainly hasn't done it all on his own, he's played a big part in getting the city's street-savvy party sound into mainstream rotation. With his chiseled good looks, T.I. is also quickly making a name for himself in the film industry, showing that any doors open up for the Rubberband Man. Originally, T.I. (born Clifford Harris Jr.) went by the stage name T.I.P., a variation on his childhood nickname "Tip." T.I.P. still frequently appears as an alter-ego for T.I. At the young age of 11 T.I. knew that rap music was his true calling, and he had a serious record deal with LaFace records. After signing the deal, T.I.P. respectfully changed his name to just T.I. to avoid confusion with his legendary new label-mate Q-Tip. T.I.'s got a lightening fast flow, and his distinctive Southern drawl made his tracks instantly recognizable. T.I. can rhyme fast or slow, often doing both on a single track. After a disappointing first album, I'm Serious, T.I. focused on his mix tapes with the hope of creating local buzz for his music. With the help of DJ Drama, T.I.'s plan succeeded and his second album, Trap Muzik, was a smash hit, selling nearly 200,000 copies in its first week of release. Radio-ready singles included "Rubberband Man", "Be Easy" and "24's." With his name ringing out, T.I. made sure to pull out all the stops for his break-through album Urban Legend. Guests like Trick Daddy, Lil Jon, Nelly, Lil' Kim and Pharrell, to name just a few, helped T.I. out on bangers like "U Don't Know Me", which won T.I. a Grammy, and the single "A.S.A.P."
