About Tenacious D
Easily the greatest rock band ever, at least according to members Kyle Gas and Jack Black, Tenacious D is the pseudo-fictitious band of real-life comedians Gas and Black. The duo play a hilarious, brilliantly absurd mix of earnest coffee-house folk and over-the-top sci-fi/fantasy metal. Yes, it's a comedy routine, and a side-splitting one at that, but the duo's surprising skill and consummate dedication to their routine make the music quite enjoyable and blurs the line between parody and sincerity. Tenacious D's debut film, THE PICK OF DESTINY (and its accompanying soundtrack), was released in 2006.
