The popular singer and actress Thalia is a certified Mexican icon. The stunning and talented Thalia has done it all-recorded chart-topping pop hits, acted in a series of telenovelas, written and produced her own albums and founded her own line of everything from clothing to chocolates. The mezzo-soprano is so beloved that, in 1997 Los Angeles declared April 21st the Day of Thalia. She got her start with the popular child music act Din Din and quickly rose from ensemble singer to soloist. She nailed the lead role of Sandy in Mexico City's celebrated 1984 production of Grease and starred along side several other young pop idols. She even did her mandatory time in the massive child super-group Timbiriche. After Timbiriche the talented Thalia shifted her focus to acting and seduced the camera in the telenovelas Pobre Senorita Limantour and Quinceanera. Mexico City wished the young starlet luck and she packed up to start her solo recording career in Los Angeles. In 1990, her self-titled solo debut Thalia went gold and her debut single "Un Pacto Entre Los Dos" is a classic. Her subsequent albums Mundo De Cristal and Love garnered her international good will in countries as diverse as Poland, Greece, China, Lebanon and Senegal. In 1997 she contributed a Spanish reworking of the song "Journey to the Past" from the animated blockbuster Anastasia. On December 2nd, 2000 Thalia shocked her fans by marrying Mariah Carey's ex-husband, Sony Music president Tommy Mottola in a three million dollar ceremony at New York City's St. Patrick's Chatedral.
