The Fratellis are an award-winning Indie rock band based in Glasgow, Scotland that was formed in early 2005. It is comprised of three members: John Lawler, Barry Wallace and Gordon McRory. John Lawler is a vocalist and guitarist and Barry Wallace is a bassist and guitarist. Gordon McRory is a drummer, backing vocalist, and an occasional player of guitar and banjo. On March 4, 2005, the band performed their primary show in O' Henry's Bar in Glasgow. In the same year, they received their first radio play on central Scotland's Beat 106. This rock trio released their self-titled EP, "The Fratellis EP" on April 3, 2006. It features tracks such as "Creepin' Up The Backstairs," "Stacie Anne" and "The Gutterati." In their first album, "Costello Music," the band offers a pleasant set of guitar-driven Britpop. Released on September 11, 2006, this full-length debut was charted at No. 2 in the official UK Albums Chart. The album contains the hit songs such as "Chelsea Dagger," "Whistle for the Choir" and "Flathead." Also included are the singles "Henrietta" and "Baby Fratelli." The song "Flathead" was included in Apple's January 2007 iPod TV advertisement. In January 2007, the introductory portion of "Chelsea Dagger" was used by "Safeway" for their animated ad campaign. The song is also featured in the final trailer of "Shrek the Third," a computer animated comedy. The Fratellis' songs feature in television programs such as Later with Jools Holland, Top of the Pops, The Friday Night Project, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Late Show with David Letterman. The popular music magazine, NME, ran a two page article in the August 10, 2006 issue, announcing the group as "the best new band in Britain." On 14th February 2007, the trio won the Best British Breakthrough Act at the 2007 BRIT Awards. The band also released exclusive free mp3s to download from their website for registered members in "Budhill Singles Club."
