A South end punk, five-piece garage rock band, The Horrors was formed in the summer of 2005. The group is formed by vocalist Faris Badwan, guitarist Joshua Third, bassist Tomethy Furse, drummer Coffin Joe, and combo organ player Spider Webb.nnOn 24 October 2006, they released a US only EP "The Horrors EP." It was their primary CD release containing five songs. On March 5 2007, they released their debut album "Strange House." It peaked at number 37 on the UK charts. With the hit single from the album "Sheena Is A Parasite" the band first achieved noticeable reputation in the UK. It was directed by Chris Cunningham, featuring the Oscar nominee actress Samantha Morton. nnThe second and third singles "Death at the Chapel" and "Count in Fives" were released in July and October of 2006. As these singles came packaged with stickers, they could not appear on the charts. Released on February 26, 2007, the fourth single "Gloves," was charted at number 34 in the UK charts. On June 25, 2007, the fifth single "She Is the New Thing" was released.nnIn the early months of 2007, the band went on to NME Awards Indie Rock Tour, together with two other bands: The Klaxons and The Automatic. At present, The Horrors is engaged in a world tour to promote "Strange House." It will make appearances at the Glastonbury Festival, Carling Weekend in the UK, Summer Sonic Festival in Japan and various Scandinavian festivals. The band will also perform in the music festival, "Splendour in the Grass," in Australia.
