The Lox, currently known as D-Block, is a rap group formed by Sheek Louch, Jadakiss, and Styles P in the 1990's. The American group has made three releases since 1998: Money, Power & Respect (1998), We Are the Streets (2000) and Live, Suffer, Celebrate (2007). The 2000 single "Ryde or Die" was a hit for the group and they found themselves with a growing fan base. nnThe Lox deliver a style of rap that is less hardcore than many of its contemporary artists - the music is more readily receivable by pop fans and yet it retains its distinct underpinnings of rap instead of wandering fully into the genre. The lyrics are lighter than a strictly rap group, but their delivery is much more rigid than that of a hip hop song. Because of this, The Lox has gathered fans of both musical styles and even pleased a few that are indifferent towards either.nnThe first two records recorded by The Lox reached the top five billings in the U.S. and reached the platinum sales level. The success of the latest album has yet to be seen, and given the long seven year wait and the band's name change, the sales and chart positions of any subsequent singles is anyone's guess. Despite the name change and a few style maturations, D-Block stands to reach its former glory as The Lox; the musicians have all grown individually and as a group in a way that means their tracks are tighter, cleaner, and in many ways more commercially viable.
