The dramatic sound of Tokio Hotel evokes a somewhat brighter Evanescence. Tokio Hotel's music is a mix of punk, emo, and pop. This quartet is one of Germany's most successful new acts. From the town of Magdeburg, twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz joined forces with drummer Gustav Schr and bassist Georg Listing at the age of 12. They signed to Universal in 2003, changing their name from Devilish to Tokio Hotel. Their debut single, "Durch den Monsun" was an easy hit with teens, topping international charts in Germany and Australia. They followed up with "Rette Mich" and "Der Letzte Tag", which also hit number one. Singer Bill Kaulitz lent his voice to filmmaker Luc Besson's animated fantasy Arthur and the Minimoys. After Kaulitz' star turn, Tokio Hotel completed their 2007 album, Zimmer 483. In June 2007, Scream, the band's first English language album, was released in Europe. Scream made its way to America in April 2008.
