Compton rapper Tyga is not quite like his Gangsta Rap predecessors. He first received attention by opening for Fall Out Boy and Gym Class Heroes during the Young Wild Things Tour in late 2007. Tyga was signed in 2008 by Young Money Entertainment and Decaydance. Tyga's cousin Travis McCoy, lead singer of the Gym Class Heroes, helped him out along the way. Travis and Tyga appeared on the Remix to Fall Out Boy's "Arms Race", which also featured Kanye West, Paul Wall, Skinhead Rob, Lupe Fiasco, and Lil Wayne. Tyga joined Lil Wayne to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2007. His first single, "Coconut Juice", samples Harry Nilsson's hit, "Coconut", and has climbed the charts as an instant success.
