The group Upper Echelon takes this meaning and metamorphosis's it to mean a higher level of thinking. This theme is precisely descriptive of the core of Upper Echelon music. These 2 artists constantly challenge themselves to dig deeper within and reach higher outside themselves to reach new plateaus of their talent. They are never satisfied or content with their position, therefore striving to evolve as musicians, artists, thinkers, and men. The only thing that matters to the two artists of Upper Echelon, Tunde and Caliph, is that they are acknowledged and recognized as revolutionaries of hip hop music. These two artists focus their energy on catalyzing the evolutionary process of hip hop music. They are not concerned with returning Hip hop music back to its original roots, neither are they satisfied with where the genre is today. Yet instead, they channel their artistic ability into adding something truly unique and everlasting to the hip hop world of music. Being that both Tunde and Caliph are responsible for their own production of their songs, the group has developed a distinct sound and style for themselves that compliments their image and underlying theme. The key feature that distinguishes Upper Echelon from other groups is their ability to create entertaining music while still upholding a message. In today's music artists seem to trap themselves in either 1 of 2 boxes. Artists with powerful messages seem to lack the charisma and wordplay to keep a young and restless crowds attention. On the other side, artists with commercially friendly production and catchy punch-lines and hooks, seem to grab the crowd's attention for the moment, but their lack of substance forces the song to become quickly disposable and forgettable. Upper Echelon has discovered the fine line between these 2 arenas where the message and entertainment in their music exist in perfect harmony.
