Vanessa Hudgens

About Vanessa Hudgens

Few people have been as swept up by the surprise success of Disney's popular High School Musical movies than the young singer Vanessa Hudgens. As the adorable and talented Gabriella Montez, Hudgens seemed like the best friend everyone wished that they had. However High School Musical wasn't Vanessa's silver screen debut; she had a supporting roll in 2003's controversial teen biopic Thirteen and appeared in 2004's re-make of the 60's children's series Thunderbirds. Before High School Musical, Vanessa Hudgens also had parts in several other children's TV shows like Quintuplets and Drake & Josh. Vanessa Hudgens has always dreamed big showbiz dreams, and the Salina, CA native's encouraging parents allowed her to take home school classes in order to concentrate on her career. Since hitting it big in High School Musical and High School Musical 2, Vanessa has acquired a devoted fan-base that transcends the movies' grade-school target demographic. The live tour for High School Musical was a sell-out smash, and fans left feeling closer than ever to the characters from the show. Music fans of all ages were curious to hear how Vanessa would sound on her first non-High School Musical recording, her debut album V. On V. Hudgens both transcends and shows her age, and the record veers between sophisticated club-pop and jumping-on-the-bed bubblegum confections. The lead single off of V., "Let Go," sees Vanessa Hudgens on the prowl for love, all set over a come-hither club beat. However, none of the tunes off of V. were too risque for Disney, who are the parent company of Hudgens' record label, Hollywood Records. The chemistry between Vanessa Hudgens and co-star Zac Efron prompted rumors that the pair might have a real-life romance in the works and fans were thrilled when Hudgens revealed to Teen Magazine that the two were dating. Rumors also hint that Vanessa Hudgens' second solo album will skew towards more adult dance-pop, implying that Vanessa may be ready to leave Gabriella Montez behind.
