About Warren G

Warren Griffin III, popularly known as Warren G., was born on the 10th of November, 1970. A hip hop producer and rapper from the American West Coast, Warren G. shot to fame with his hit g-funk single "Regulate" in collaboration with Nate Dogg, which came out in 1994. For the period between 1990 and 1999, he was no.92 on the list of the decade's highest selling artists. Dr. Dre, eminent record producer, is his step-brother. nnSoul and funk music collections which Warren G. heard as a child fostered his love and appreciation for classic grooves. He was brought up on the eastern part of the Long Beach California, an area experiencing frequent incidents of gang violence. Warren G. and childhood buddies Nathaniel Hale and Calvin (Cordozar) Broadus were united by several common interests, the strongest being a love for music. Thus emerged the group '213,' in the year 1992. Nathaniel Hale was known as Nate Dogg and Calvin Broadus as Snoop Dog. nnWarren G. introduced the group to Dr. Dre. Impressed with the group, Dr. Dre signed Snoop Dogg to 'Death Row Records,' a record company founded by himself and Suge Knight. The trio worked on Dre's album "The Chronic" (1992) and Snoop's album "Doggy Style" (1993). nnWarren G. signed up with Def Jam Records. His debut album "Regulateâ_¦The G Funk Era" which came out in 1994 was a huge success. Besides being graded multi-platinum in the US, it was also nominated for several awards including a Grammy. nnIn 1997, Warren G. released the album "Take a Look Over Your Shoulder." The next album "I Want It All" which came out in 1999 is a fusion of rock and jazz. The single "I Want It All" was an international hit. The album "Return of the Regulator" released in 2001 was Best West Coast Album of the Year. In 2003, the members of '213' came back with an album release "The Hard Way" which was no.4 on the Billboard charts. nnWarren G's most recent album â_""In the Mid-Nite Hour" came out in October 2005. The album cover is dedicated to music legend Marvin Gaye.
